After being promoted to Serie A this summer, Monza completed the first signing with Ranocchia with a two-year contract, aiming to improve the stability of positional defense. However, the former Inter captain has only played twice at Monza (138 minutes), and his last appearance was a month ago – in a 4-0 loss to Napoli at Monza, Ranocchia only played 48 games due to a sprained ankle. Minutes later, it was confirmed that he suffered a serious injury to the fibula fracture.
Ranocchia is still recovering from an injury. Some media said that the players may retire early because of this.
Andrea Ranocchia, 34, started his career as a center-back in 2006. Before joining Monza, he played for Perugia, Genoa, Bari, Inter Milan, Sampdoria, Hull City, and other teams, and also won 2 Serie A titles, 1 Coppa Italia, and 1 Italian Super Cup.
